iSRS 2025 Visa Options
We outlined the visa options for iSRS 2025 attendees and participants based on guidance from the International Event Coordinator Network (IECN). Review the options below to find the most suitable visa for your role at the event, and ensure all requirements are met for a smooth visa approval and entry into Australia.
Under Australia's universal visa system, all visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements. We strongly advise that visa applications be lodged at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to a person’s intended date of travel.
For Attendees, Participants, and Speakers
Visitor Visa (subclass 600) – Business Stream
This visa is for individuals who want to visit Australia for short-term business activities, such as attending a conference, making business inquiries, or negotiating a contract. It does not allow for paid work or ongoing employment.
Suitable for participants, attendees, and speakers at iSRS 2025 who are not being paid for their contributions.
Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) (subclass 601)
The ETA is an electronic visa available to passport holders from certain countries, allowing them to visit Australia for tourism or business purposes for up to three months at a time. It’s designed for short visits and is typically easier and faster to obtain.
Available to citizens of eligible countries who plan to attend iSRS 2025 without receiving payment.
The eVisitor visa is a free electronic visa available to citizens of European Union (EU) countries and a few other European nations. It permits visits to Australia for business or tourism for up to three months within a 12-month period.
Suitable for eligible passport holders from the EU and other designated European countries, attending iSRS 2025 without being paid.
For Speakers, Presenters, and Exhibitors
Temporary Activity Visa (subclass 408)
This visa is for individuals invited by an Australian organization to participate in specific events or activities. It allows the holder to stay in Australia for the duration of the event and may include paid roles.
For speakers, presenters, and exhibitors at iSRS 2025 who have been invited by an Australian organization. A letter of support is required.
Temporary Work Visa (subclass 400)
This visa allows individuals to work in Australia on a short-term basis in highly specialized roles that cannot be easily filled by local workers.
For those attending iSRS 2025 without an inviting Australian organization and are being paid for their work.
For Minors (Under 18 Years)
Parental consent and additional forms (Form 1229 and Form 1257) are required. Form 1229
Other Information
Biometrics Collection
Biometrics Collection is designed to capture essential information for identifying event participants and their visa applications.
The SRS will provide a list of iSRS 2025 participants to the International Conference and Event Network (ICEN). The IECN forwards the biodata collection sheet to the Australian Visa Office overseas to facilitate the visa process.
Visa applicants outside of Australia will also need to provide biometrics when they apply for a visa that is part of the Australian biometrics program.
Visa applicants must demonstrate that they meet all the legislative requirements for an Australian visa.
Visa applicants should lodge a complete and fully documented application, and include as much relevant information as possible.
