Introductory Letter From SRS President, Tony Gee
Dear Colleague,
As the president of the Society of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, I have been keen to help with the implementation of radiochemistry and radiopharmacy education, training, research and clinical applications across the globe. The SRS board and I recently decided to develop regional SRS connections with radiopharmaceutical scientists and practitioners in Africa to further promote these aims. We are therefore contacting you and other colleagues to plan a virtual meeting (probably between ½ - 1 day in duration) to discuss the great potential of your work and also the challenges you all face.
I feel that having an African regional approach to such a meeting will make it informative and highly relevant to you. I would like to thank Dr. Ekoume for taking the initiative to coordinate this initiative. eSRS Africa—our first event—will be held the 15th Oct 2021.
Dr. Ekoume and I suggest having a series of presentations from different institutions across the region with abstracts of research done in Africa to highlight the good work ongoing and also the challenges you face in performing radiopharmaceutical sciences. To this end, Dr Ekoume has put together a questionnaire that can form the basis for short presentations from various institutes/regions represented. To complete this questionnaire, click here.
The purpose of this questionnaire is simply to gain information that will help focus the meeting on common issues and lead to possible solutions. I very much hope that you will find this an interesting opportunity and encourage you to take part in the first eSRS Africa meeting—hopefully the first of many.
I look forward to hearing from you in due course. Feel free to contact me or Dr. Ekoume for any further information or questions.
Best wishes,
Prof. Tony Gee
